My Experience with Sprint Long Distance.

So I decide to change my telephone to Comcast Digital Voice ( I will tell you about this nightmare in another blog). This means I will cancel my conventenial telephone line through Qwest and my Long Distance though Sprint . When I sign up for Digital Voice with Comcast I ask do I need to call Qwest and Sprint to cancel , they say no it will be taken care of. I made this change on the 24th of the month.
A week after I transfer to Comcast I get a final bill from Qwest. Great all is going smoothly.
About a week later I get a bill from Sprint it extends a day beyond when I had the service canceled but I think nothing of it, it's just a day extra.
The following month I get another bill from Sprint. I call and ask What's Up? The customer service agent tells me that my local carrier Qwest did not notifiy them until the 7th of the month that the service was canceled. I say ok I'm good with that but why did you charge me for the whole month (until the 25th)? The customer service agent tells me that is common practice. I say I don't understand I did not get the service I should not have to pay for it. The customer service agent says there is nothing she can do it is policy.
The more I think about it the madder I get. I have never been late paying a bill. I have always paid exactly what I owed but now I am having a difficult time understanding why I am paying for something I did not receive. If I did this to them they would sue me.
Because I have no idea what to do against a big company like Sprint I decide to just irritate them by filing a complaint with the Better Bussiness Buerau (BBB). I don't expect anything to happen and don't even hear back from the BBB for a week.
Much to my surprise yesterday I got a reply from BBB and a call from Sprint. The gentleman who called from Sprint appolizied for the inconvienence and said I would be getting a refund check in mail. I must say I commend Sprint for doing the right thing, I can only hope they also change their policy so this does not happen to others.
Lesson learned here - Always review you bills and if there is a question call and if you know you are right and do not get results do not stop pursueing it until you get results.
